Cryoport Systems Welcomes Robin Grimwood as Chief Commercial Officer 

Robin Grimwood has joined Cryoport Systems as the company’s new Chief Commercial Officer. Robin brings more than three decades of leadership experience in the global life sciences industry, with a proven track record of building, scaling, and transforming businesses across clinical services, genomics, biorepositories, laboratory automation, and sample management. Robin will lead the company’s continued growth and help strengthen its ability to serve the evolving needs of clients around the world. 

Throughout his career, Robin has held multiple senior leadership positions with CellCarta, Sampled, Azenta Life Sciences, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Most recently, Robin served as SVP of Genomics and Business Unit Head at CellCarta, where he led strategy, commercial growth, portfolio development, and operations for its global genomics business. Prior to that, Robin founded FLUIDX, an innovative sample-management technology company, and co-founded Sampled, a life sciences company. 

Robin’s scientific background and deep industry knowledge provide a strong foundation for his business insights and leadership. Earlier in his career, he worked in scientific research, including monoclonal antibody and assay development, before progressing into commercial and executive leadership roles. He also holds multiple patents related to laboratory automation, sample storage, tracking, and laboratory systems, and has contributed to numerous scientific papers. 

As Chief Commercial Officer, Robin will leverage his extensive leadership experience and deep understanding of the life sciences industry to drive long-term success for Cryoport Systems and its clients. He joins the company at an exciting time, on the heels of launching its new 86,500-square-foot Global Supply Chain Center in Santa Ana, California. The facility further supports Cryoport Systems’ ability to provide end-to-end supply chain solutions under one roof from temperature-controlled shipping to cryopreservation and biostorage.
